Provincial Visitation Thursday 2nd April 2009

The Visitation of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Dunbartonshire is not usually one of the best attended Meetings of the session, but the Temple was already quite busy when the Provincial Grand Master, Brother Tom Leckenby, headed a deputation of 37 Office-bearers and Members of Provincial Grand Lodge into the Meeting to bring to 88 the total number in attendance.

The Provincial Grand Master then gave a glowing report on the manner in which the business of the Lodge had been conducted over the preceding year.

The Mallet was returned to the Master, Brother Finlay Campbell, and thereafter the Immediate Past Master, Brother Russell Cameron, in a concise manner, thanked everyone who had helped make his year in office so enjoyable and such a success.

It then became apparent why there had been such a good attendance at this Meeting.

The Director of Ceremonies, Brother Robert Walker, conducted to the West and presented to the assembled Brethren Brother David Wilson Bennett, Past Master of Lodge Clydebank 1234 and Member of Grand Committee, and Brother Thomas Kerr Leckenby, Past Master of Lodge St. John Kilwinning 28, Provincial Grand Master.

The Master, Brother Campbell, then paid tribute to the zeal and commitment given by both these Brethren to Freemasonry in general and Lodge Cadder Argyle in particular, and asked them to accept Honorary Membership of the Lodge which they readily accepted.

In thanking the Lodge for this honour, Brother Leckenby remembered with pride the commitment shown by his late father, Brother William Kerr Leckenby, to this Lodge of which he also was an Honorary Member. Brother Bennett made fitting comment about his attendance as a visitor at the Lodge which has spanned over 42 years.

And so Thomas Kerr Leckenby and David Wilson Bennett, two Brethren well-regarded throughout the Scottish Craft, join a small band of elite Brethren who have gained the esteem and respect of the Brethren of Lodge Cadder Argyle.
