Chryston Freemasons support Erskine Hospital

Carrying out one last duty before demitting office on 16th December, James Cowan, Master of Lodge Cadder Argyle is pictured above presenting a cheque for £650 00 to John McCormack, Substitute Provincial Grand Master of Dunbartonshire, in aid of the Provincial Grand Lodge Erskine Hospital Appeal.

This is the sum raised during the year for the ‘Master’s Charity’, a special cause which the Master nominates to receive additional funding, over and above the normal charitable donations. Well over £20,000 has been raised by the Lodge in recent years to benefit similar needy causes.

Also present in the photograph are Finlay Campbell, Secretary; John Biggart, and Jim Anderson, Treasurer.

John Biggart and James Cowan raised much of the above sum with a sponsored slim, and although not obvious from the photograph, between them lost nearly 30 kilograms.

Erskine Hospital, now known as Erskine Home, is the focus of an appeal by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Dunbartonshire, and the Provincial Grand Master, Tom Leckenby, hopes to make a considerable donation to the Home sometime in 2007.
